Our Mission

Ayla  Birth, Inc. is dedicated to providing a foundation to families in crisis through education, social support and empowerment during pregnancy and the first year of life.

Who are we?

We are group of doulas, educators and other health care professionals who saw how important it was to support women at risk of losing custody of their children, either through incarceration, addiction, mental or physical illness or domestic violence.

what do we do?

We support. We educate.  We listen.  We are in the process of creating a Prison Doula Program with Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon which will provide inmates with one-on-one doula support before, during and after they give birth to their children.

Our Educational film,
An Expression of Love, was created in partnership with W.I.C. to support breastfeeding among non-custodial parents.

Why are we here?

Ayla Birth volunteers and staff come from all walks of life, people just starting out to those starting a second (or fourth!) career.  Some of us came here out of a sense of social justice, some because they had experience with the system in the past, and some because they just want to help women through pregnancy and childbirth.
Help us convert in-kind donations (clothes and accessories) into money to help us run Ayla Birth!
