Dear Viewer,
Thank you for choosing an Expression of Love: Breastmilk Pumping for Your Baby and learning more about providing breastmilk to your baby. It is a great way to feel “connected” even though your child is not with you. Your milk will provide your baby with the things he/she needs to grow up healthy, smart, and strong.
This film follows the story of woman who is trying to do the best thing for her baby, even though they are separated. The story reveals that her baby’s path back to her was not an easy one, but it was worth the effort.
Throughout the film, expert advice is offered to help educate about common concerns a mom might face when she is pumping for her baby during long-term separation. Upon completion of this video, you will be able to:
1) Identify one risk of providing artificial baby milk to an infant;
2) Identify normal variations in infant stools;
3) Recognize when an infant should not receive breast milk;
4) Assemble and use a breast pump; and
5) Store and handle expressed breastmilk properly.
There is a review portion at the end of each of the five chapters in the film. You may pause the film to answer your review questions or you may choose to follow along with the video as it addresses each question and answer individually.
The toolkit includes a study guide with an overview of each chapter’s highlights. It will supplement the answer key and reinforce the objectives listed.
We encourage you to watch this film, ask questions, and consider your options for providing your milk to your baby in foster care. Even some mother’s milk provides great benefits.
Let us thank you on behalf of your baby as well as your community!
Sincerely,
Your friends at Washington County WIC and Ayla Birth, Inc.
